CHOOSING YOUR SHADE COLOR:
Color is a key factor in selecting a sunscreen shadecloth. Color will directly effect heat gain (shading coefficient), brightness and glare.
Lighter colors are more reflective. They let in a higher percentage of daylight. In technical terms, they have lower heat gain and shading coefficients.
Light colors are brighter when lit by the sun. This causes high surface brightness (think of a bare lightbulb). So they may let in more light than you need in an area where computer screens and work stations are being used.
Light colors are difficult to see through because they are brighter and reflect more light to the eye. They may also reflect more of your interior light back into your space.
Darker colors provide a better view through the shadecloth to the outside.
Dark colors absorb light and heat, and are less energy efficient than lighter colors. They transmit less light and have a lower surface brightness, so they reflect less. This can provide a more glare-free environment for computer work stations.
